OF COURSE JESUS ISN'T THE ALPHA AND OMEGA

It makes it easier to cope with challenging thoughts if we can write off the source as insane, as they suggested about Jesus. Psychologically so many believers need their beliefs as an emotional prop, the means to survive the day, the facility they have latched on to to handle what is awful about their lives, impulses, deeds or thoughts. However, while faith provides a quick fix solution, it doesn't remedy the underlying ills and sells the person short. Many of the posts in response to my writing are frightened protests at the prospect of having to set out in search of a greater truth. Of course Jesus was a sinner. His sins are even recorded for all to read, but the brainwashed gloss over them, in the same way all radicalised believers do. Of course Jesus isn't the 'Holy of Holies, the Alpha and Omega and the great I am...'etc This is all hyperbole to egg up the illusion that somehow this historical figure is the panacea for all our ills. When, as adults, we allow ourselves to be tricked by others into mythical fantastical thinking we rob ourselves of our own humanity and we dodge the task before us to take responsibility for our lives and choices. The world is left a poorer and more dangerous place as a result with bloodshed, hatreds and unpleasant posts pouring out as from a cracked sewer. The path of love invites each of us to shed all our religious comfort rags and cuddly Jesus figures and mature into righteous, moral workers playing a full part in building a better world for all.

JESUS DIDN'T LOVE EVERYONE WHILE HE WAS ALIVE

Our language about Jesus is often in a code given to us by others. It is meaningless to say Jesus is the 'son of God' unless by that we mean like we are God's sons and daughters too. Jesus is only 'the Christ', i.e. one that is full of the good spirit, as anyone else who is similarly good. The example of Jesus's life, as so many other inspirational people, may help us to be better people and so prevent us from doing wrong, if that is what we mean by 'saving' us, though it is a misleading word. It is strange to suggest that he loves us, though we are sinners. He was a sinner, so the sin has got nothing to do with it and as he didn't love everyone while he was alive, I suspect it is unreliable to say he does now.

STOP USING THE BLARNEY LANGUAGE LIKE 'SON OF GOD'

We must try to stop using propaganda lingo. His name was Jesus. 'Christ, son of God, stories about the virgin birth' etc - are all the blarney marketed out by the power hungry men that followed and are all to be taken with a pinch of salt.

ADEBOWALE AND ADEBOLAJO - VICTIMS TOO OF OUR TOLERANCE OF RELIGION

I cannot share the vitriol in some of the comments being made about Adebowale and Adebolajo. These young men have fallen victim to fundamentalist religion which led to Lee Rigby becoming a tragic victim of their radicalistion. 

Religion has created a blood lust for centuries across the world and still today Muslims and Christians are slaughtering each other.  Yet not only is religion still tolerated, faith schools are permitted, religious adherents are allowed to mutilate their children, religious broadcasts offend our airwaves and our secular state supports an established church. 

The irrationality of religion makes it an unpredictable motivator and while ever society affords it a place in public life, we cannot be surprised when its dark energy wreaks havoc. 

Imprisoning for life those who have become contaminated by religion not only contravenes the ruling of the European Court, but it removes the challenge of discovering how we can detox a religious addict from their dependency on an artificial stimulant and inspiration and replace it with a responsible attitude towards others, in a world where God talk has been finally eradicated.

THE MODERN HIDDEN PAEDOPHILES

Unfortunately, while the PIE might have been outcast and past insouciance towards child abuse removed we are still caught in a 'strange moment in our sexual social history'. 

We cultivate child stars and have them cavorting sexually on Britain's Got Talent. We produce child mags that are sexually obsessed and explicit. We produce children's TV that promotes the myth that the only purposeful pursuits for the young are dating, dancing and performing. Our fashion industry pushes children into wearing make up, the latest fashions and being body beauty conscious. Children's clothes are increasingly suggestive with design lines deliberately leading towards the sexual organs. The music industry produce videos and lyrics that are shockingly sexual directed at a young audience.

Meanwhile we are coy about sex education, remain prudish about handling direct sexual questions from children at home and are incapable of providing balanced sexual information at school. It seems that we want rightly to build an impregnable wall with regard to sexual relations between adults and children, while at the same time allowing adults to deliberately sexually stimulate the young for their own ends yet refusing to be open, frank and informative about sexuality with them.

Perhaps all this represents a paedophilic mindset that has been forced underground and expresses itself in these, at present culturally respectable and acceptable ways, while the base instincts remain predatory and reprehensible.

CHURCH ENCOURAGES HAND OUT CULTURE WHILE THE DESIGNER CLAD ATTEND TRUSSELL FOODBANKS

The church encourages dependencies. A state flourishes when people acquire the skills of independence. Carey opines about the dilemmas that many UK families face. He fails to identify the complicity of the church with hand out culture. 

The church breeds congregations of automatons to join their queues to receive the Mass. They like to foster the image of church as provider and people as recipients. The church has jumped quickly onto the bandwagon of distributing free food to the 'poor'. Documentaries have filmed some of those 'in need' attending the food banks, pushing their designer buggies in designer clothing and looking far from malnourished. However, the process boosts the image of the church and bolsters the pretence that it is on the side of the poor.

This is a masquerade, as the church is tightfisted with its money and the food it gives out is donated by others. Carey worries about rising food prices and the inability to cope with modern conditions. I lived in Calcutta with the poor for a year. No one here knows true poverty. Compared to earlier generations, we live in clover.

People can live on a pittance if they use budget ranges of food, use no heating, shop from charity stores and live frugally. It's just the church and society have created a benefit culture in which people expect, have no shame in taking, are disinclined to forgo and want to do sod all and yet live like rulers, smoking, drinking and watching Sky.

ADLINGTON IS A TRAPPED AND WOUNDED PERSON

 Our skin deep culture is obsessed with the trivial, the transient and the superficial. It is a disturbance of the mind brought about by the distortion created when we give undue attention to appearance as opposed to the inner human qualities that build rounded individuals and a coherent society.

Religion is shown increasingly to be the greatest threat to building a modern, compassionate, inclusive and just society.

THE JOY OF BEING AN OLDER PARENT

I have a daughter and a son from my first marriage.

I was divorced for 6 years and never imagined I would have any further children. However I remarried, aged 44 to a woman aged 41 who had never been married or given birth.

We now have three children together, conceived naturally, aged 7,12 and 13. My wife was considered 'geriatric' for all three and we encountered a considerable amount of prejudice both from within the family and the health service to her being an older mother.

Dire warnings were issued about abnormality from all sides and a radiographer almost took a macabre delight in saying that one of the children would almost certainly be odd and we should consider termination. Further tests contradicted her pessimism and thankfully all three children are a picture of health.

My wife blossomed throughout her pregnancies and there is not a day that passes when I am not eternally grateful for the miracle of my five amazing children. 

Further, being an older and more mature parent has been an entirely different experience and I believe has brought many additional benefits to the children. So, don't let others dissuade you, as an older person, to have a child.

The Bible obstructs people's knowledge of God. Egocentrism is the big problem. The 'I' looms large with so many Christian beliefs. God has saved ME - it's all about the goodies I can get from the eternal sweet store. It has nothing to do with the creator God who doesn't play such childish 'You're in , you're out' games.

Actually, I reckon that's why you look so sad and your life is weary and your thoughts are getting tighter and more embittered by the day.

So I've come to set you free.

I'm unlocking the chains. I'm removing the burden. I'm relieving you of your onerous religious duties.

From now on quit the church. Throw the Bible in the bin. Give your knees a rest and start living.

Walk, no skip, hell no - dance away from this moment, liberated and free.

THE RICH STEAL THE BEST SCHOOL PLACES

 Bexley is a reprehensible example of this. 'A' grade children losing out on the randomly decided lottery of admission criteria for grammar places and instead being offered 50% GCSE pass rate inferior schools instead. The rich, using tutors, buying up nearby properties and knowing how to milk the appeal system win through. As a fall back they attend the local church, smooth talk the cleric, morph to observe any religious requirement, including confirmation, often with a middle class accent and squeeze into an advantaged faith driven school instead. Academies, allowed to be laws unto themselves, avoid the normal public scrutiny and so the rich and powerful steal again the chase and the poor are ground into the cattle market school provision that caters for the remaining 'rabble'.

When we encounter the rottenness in the Bible and in Christian history and the church and then pass it by, ignoring it, justifying it or explaining it away, we make a great mistake.  When we see that the tradition is contaminated we must revise our positions and approach all things anew. The darkness sends us eager for the light. It's not far. Love. Love clears away the clutter, the contamination, the past and present so heavy with possessive hatreds and invites us to strip ourselves, and return to the virgin skin and heart with which we entered the world before those terrible beliefs and words took us hostage.

Films and even articles like this surf on the male appetite for that easy sexual erection over cheap fare. Society needs rid itself of the tawdry and produce works of art that point the young and us all to the far more precious, hallowed  and stimulating realms of the exquisite lovemaking of the committed.

It has been interesting to experience the infantile level of comment on this Telegraph religious site in contrast to the more erudite posting at The Times. Perhaps this is where the Catholic groupies gather, but if so it does no credit to the paper.

SCRIPTURE IS LARGELY VILE

Scripture is largely vile, full of murder, genocide, rape and brutality. Reference to it may well be in part responsible for the church of Rome. Noah's flood describes a merciless and sadistic God which in various ways is replicated by the Roman Church and its divisive message.

THERE IS NOT ONE CHURCH OF ROME

Christ never instituted a church. Men on a power kick manipulated impressionable people into forming a community that sought advantage through political alliances. I realise that the firm don't like entrepreneurial variations, but pretending that only British Airways existed didn't stop the likes of easyjet providing access to the majority to flight privileges before reserved for the powerful minority. People may chose to fantasise that their church is the one and only and that one day they will control the world, but I suggest this is more akin to a megalomaniacal mindset than reality.

One that had interfered with little children or beaten pupils or made advances to ordinands or in celibate frustration had pleasured themselves? - If, by some tiny remote chance it was an unloaded agenda free factual enquiry - Bishop Richard Palmer at a public consecration at St Augustine's, Westgate on Sea in December 2000. If it was facetious, then let the inane responses begin....but remember El Papa said we were brothers now, even brother bishops!!

 The Senior Appeal Court Judges have demonstrated how even they and their court can dissemble to achieve a desired end. If the poor manipulate the truth, or should we talk plainly, lie, they are punished. If the mighty do, they are honoured. In the corridors of 'justice' it is one rule for the powerful and one rule for the rest. Wisdom from Europe and concerns about our 'degrading and inhuman treatment' of prisoners are swept aside out of political and cultural expediency.

FAMILY COURTS ADMINISTERING INJUSTICE TO FATHERS

The family courts are the last bastion of prejudice against fathers. Judges make the fundamentally flawed choice to try and act as a moral arbiter. They scrape around for spurious justifications for their arbitrary conclusions that are riven with subjectivity and as such are time bound and unreliable. Instead they should uphold alone the inviolable right of every father and mother to have equal access and residence with their children.

HAVE WE GOT A COSY PLACE NEAR TO GOD

Do we believe that God loves us and is going to save us because we believe in him and have given our lives to him and that we are assured a place in heaven?

I am sorry to say this, but I have no choice, such a belief would amount to one of the greatest egotistical self deceptions around.

God loves everyone because God created everyone.

God does not love us because we believe. Our belief is irrelevant.

God does not assure us of a place in heaven because we have made a commitment. Our commitment and our response is irrelevant.

As a good mother and a father love their child, so God loves us.

As a good mother and father only want the best for their child, so God only wants the best for us.

As a good mother and a father would never destroy their child, so God will never destroy us.

We have no advantage whatsoever over an atheist, an agnostic, a member of another faith community like a Muslim or a Hindu or a Pagan, not even over those who have done and do extreme wrong.

God loves every person equally and if God is God and if heaven is heaven, then all will be healed, restored and welcomed into this Utopian community of life.

THE HEALTH AND SAFETY BRIGADE KILLING OUR KIDS

Teachers imprison children in classrooms and parents trap their children in homes -  on rainy days lest they catch a cold, on icy days lest they slide and slip, on autumn days lest they play conkers, on summer days lest they catch the sun....and our children get weaker, wimpier and plumper.

So a six year old in my family comes home from school with a Valentine card - our society is out of control -  primary school girls wearing make up and short skirts to discos, talk of boyfriends and girlfriends, can't we see how the money makers are sexualising our lives and our children. Stop the rot and allow our children the innocence of childhood.

A God that has created an eternal hell for some and a heaven for others is the epitome of evil and no moral person should get involved in supporting such a God.

Let the fingers that pass over these wafer bits of Jesus be covered in distress.

Let's force our fellow workers to be celibate. Let's ensure they are scourged by loneliness and frustration, that their humanity is deprived. Let's drive them wild with need so that they prey upon the children, beat them, and sexually abuse them. Let's allow their only intimacy to be with each other, so that they can scurry to dark corners for intercourse. Oh yes, and for those who can't keep our contorted rules and have affairs that lead to pregnancy, let them pay for the abortions and issue the threats of divine judgement should any of their women spill the beans as they have their seed.

But the people will surely stop queuing for Mass when all this is discovered.

Oh you have much to learn. Even if the fingers of the priests have the semen of their abuse, the faeces from their intercourse or the blood of abortions on them, they will still come, because the priests have the body of Jesus under lock and key and the gullible are desperate to get him. So gullible in fact that they won't allow the police near to investigate.

THE GOD FROM WHICH WE NEED TO BE EXORCISED

The idea that Jesus needed to die for our sins and give his blood for our release is on close inspection one of the greatest con tricks in history. What sort of a God are we envisaging here that has a thirst for blood, that has to do deals with the devil and is so not in control of creation that human sacrifices have to be made to restore a balance. This is no God but an effigy of our narrow human thinking from which we need to be exorcised.

JESUS IN A SILLY WAFER BREAD

Jesus in a silly wafer bread, Jesus in some fortified wine, come on ....Jesus trapped in silly prisons on silly altars in cold churches....not likely...he wasn't resurrected for that sort of treatment...

WHEN WE MAKE OF GOD THE SATAN

You should not read the Bible as a historical account. It is a patchwork quilt of myths, made up from the threads of many literary sources. There were no wise men, no gifts at Jesus' birth. God does not dictate events, otherwise he would be the Satan indicted for such horrific crimes as the holocaust and the killing of his own son.

REQUIRING JESUS TO DIE ON A CROSS WOULD MAKE GOD A MONSTER

Predestining the death of Jesus would make God a monster. Old fashioned ideas that God needs a sacrifice  in order to forgive us make no sense at all. We must shake off all this churchy clutter and refresh our sense of the immense love of God that needs no dead son, nor blood fest to embrace us eternally with life.

DON'T TRUST THE CHURCH AN INCH

The church lied from the first day....in denying association with Jesus  at his hour of greatest need - don't trust the church an inch....How could you begin to trust an institution made up of human beings when we are flawed and sinful?

THE CORROSIVE EXAMPLE OF JESUS THAT HAS GIVEN US A BLOOD DRENCHED FAITH

The corrosive example that Jesus followed was to be willing to die for his faith. 

This became the exemplar for Christendom and under girds much of our militaristic culture. 

'No greater love...' etc. 

The willingness to sacrifice your life for that which you believe is taught from childhood, is the apologetic for all our armed forces campaigns and was the basis of the crusades.

 During these and the inquisition it was taken one step further, that violence per se was an acceptable tool for the spreading of the faith. 

We belong to a blood drenched faith and culture that has influenced  the world adversely in this regard. 

We can hardly be surprised when others follow the same route.

NEVER HAVE AN AFFAIR AS BOTHAM DISCOVERED

Affairs are utterly destructive and to be avoided at all costs.

While popular culture teases about the frisson of extra marital relationships, it irresponsibly exposes people, families and especially children to the devastating consequences that follow, that often last a lifetime. 

There is one wise and simple message to pass on to others. 

Never ever have an affair.

THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND REPRESENTS THE WORST OF BRITISH SOCIETY

The Church of England, its synod, its bishops and its leading laity represent the worst of British society.

They are held in a time warp, clinging to redundant myths, peddling laughable miracles and preaching old prejudices such as homophobia and sexism.

Its present life depends entirely upon money drawn from past privilege and snatched from the fund raising of former generations. It would barely survive on today's levels of giving.

Its influence in public life is pernicious, corrupting the young with simplistic and anti scientific beliefs that muddle their participation in our enlightened age and promote the divisive thinking of our cruelly intolerant past.

In time it will fade away. Until then, we must guard ourselves and especially our children from its influence.
