WARNING - THE NEW DATA PROTECTION BILL IS A CRIMINAL'S CHARTER
This is another terminal blow to our Freedom of Expression.
Individuals and media groups have been increasingly gagged and slapped with injunctions and restraining orders preventing them from providing factual information to the public about criminal activity and corruption.
Now, the criminals themselves are to have a charter to wipe the public slate clean of their existence and their criminal, corrupt and immoral activity.
Now, the very means by which democracy and public life is maintained, held accountable and challenged is being eroded and removed.
Soon, whistle-blowers will be so hemmed in, cornered, discriminated against and terrorised that they will be incapable of revealing the information they have. They will become an extinct group.
Society will begin to decay from within.
The internet that once was hailed as the brave new world, unreachable by legislators and state censors is being hijacked and reduced to a limp version of what it was.
Increasingly good people will be driven onto the dark web or into alternative means of ensuring truth and facts are disseminated.
Anarchist groups, protesters and radicals will be energised, seen as the only means to resist the concrete being poured into our mouths by the silencers.
Don't be fooled by those who claim this is a step in the right direction. It only truly aids the worst elements of our world.
