THE WAY THAT GOOD PEOPLE, TERRIBLY WRONGED, CAN MOVE ON

Good people, terribly wronged, sometimes have to wait a long time, patiently, for those who have hurt them, to realise what they have done and apologise and try to make amends.
Sometimes the offenders never reach that enlightenment and remain entrapped within their own dysfunctional world.
However, good people can manage such matters creatively, if they keep the hope alive that one day the culprits will be redeemed, because at heart, what that hope represents, is a loving, forgiving and gracious attitude, which itself is healing and redemptive.
It saves the offended from bitterness and a desire for vengeance and it offers the offenders a pathway back from their misdeeds.
Ultimately, what is at stake is the need for healing, and such an approach places the source of healing within the victim. If then such a letter comes after 5 years, it is a joy, but it is not necessary for the victim's world to be repaired and for them to move on.
