HARRY AND MEGHAN FOLLOW THE LIGHT


‘Royal commentators’, journalists and public posts may continue to be mischievous, malign, intrusive and toxic. I am grateful for Harry and Meghan being real, vulnerable, honest and human. It is invidious to invite candid expression to aid mental health and then use the ‘concerned’ card to suggest a ‘six week holiday break’ may help them ‘to come to their senses’. Thankfully, Harry and Meghan are courageously walking with integrity and exposing the cynical, effete nature of so much of our public, institutional and even royal life. I urge them to continue to transform the self-interested prevarication of the past into the authentic transparency of a new dispensation.

The unimaginable criminal destruction within the lives of Harvey Proctor, Lord Bramall, Edward Heath and Leon Britton, because of the actions by the police is chilling. For Naga Munchetty it may have been just another interview, but her claim that she had to give the police a right to reply was so inflammatory and insensitive, it is of no surprise that Harvey Proctor walked off the set.

THE PRESS SHOULD FACE CRIMINAL CHARGES FOR BULLYING AND HARASSING MEGHAN

Hearing that the Mail on Sunday are to defend 'vigorously' the litigation brought against them by the Duchess of Sussex is contemptible. Any media group that publishes such demeaning, intrusive, personal, belittling and incessantly negative material against an individual, ought to face criminal charges, let alone civil ones. The constant, inconsequential targeting of the Royals, and others, is a malaise at the heart of our society, indicative of an inchoate, incoherent and infantile approach to journalism. Even articles purporting to be exposing concerns about the environment re private jets and land rovers are only a front for more baiting. Given the past, for Meghan to be treated in this manner is unconscionable. Harry and Meghan, as William and Kate, only bring joy, hope, inspiration and exemplary social engagement , wherever they go, and whoever they meet. Let us celebrate all the good they do, and stop this pernicious, destructive and criminal journalistic assault upon them.
