The Cothill Educational Trust takes its safeguarding responsibilities very that why it has known of the allegation against Ashdown House for 10 years?
Everyone is sliding all over the place, talking politically correct language, when the truth is that physical and even sexual abuse was either perpetrated systemically, colluded with or overlooked in yesterday's world and in so many institutions.
I was beaten repeatedly at junior school and caned repeatedly at senior school, I was sexually abused both at my junior school and my senior school, but this was the prevalent culture. Decades on, adults have now found this to be reprehensible.
They can still try and run to ground any perpetrators that are alive, but what about all those others who were complicit and who were parties to the crime by their silence, their staff room gossip, their jokes and innuendos.
Our obsession with trying to put a previous generation's faults to right may be the perfect cover up for not looking at or admitting our own.
