NIGELLA DRAGS ON
I am afraid that I believe the sympathetic comments presented about Nigella are misguided.
They represent the fact that the public has been sucked into a collusive sanctioning of the games the media play with us.
The Nigella story continues to fill front pages and occupy the minds of many because she is rich, the journalist's sweetheart and has an advantageous network.
The trickery involved and the corruption, is that we all know countless others whose lives are far more wretched than Nigella's, but we are not being asked to show sympathy for them.
The front pages don't provide us with continual updates about their lives; not even the tortured, maimed, poverty stricken and those blighted by disease, war and oppression.
Individuals suffer across the world in horrific ways but their stories are not appearing day in day out.
In their place we are being asked to show sympathy for a woman drenched in advantage by journalists wanting to sell their papers, and we are fool enough to be sucked in!
