ONE RULE FOR NIGELLA LAWSON - ANOTHER FOR THE POOR
One rule for the rich, advantaged and influential, another for the rest.
The announcement that the police will not investigate Nigella Lawson over cocaine and cannabis use is shocking.
Her image of being a domestic goddess lies in ruins. In chasing fame and influence, she farmed out her children to holiday with the Grillo sisters repeatedly, gave them gratuitous amounts of money, squandered obscene levels on herself, sold herself for the 'gold' of the marital 'cage' and indulged herself on cocaine and cannabis, while being feted as an exemplar by the media. The image we have now is of a pitiful, spoilt, money drenched, drug dependent and child neglecting casualty of the rich and advantaged classes.
The heart of the matter though is not Nigella. It is exposing the hypocrisy at play in elitist papers and among journalists, feting a woman whose class, status, finance and influence make her apparently above reproach. It is the British media filling the papers with this non story when Syria's children are dying. I feel for every human being in every mess they encounter or create, and know that there but for the grace of God go I.
This is not personal or judgmental. I can't throw stones. I have messed up enough in my life. Mere mortals who mess up are obliterated by the media. Not so Nigella.....
We must tackle the dishonesty that divides our world and struggle to find the path of truth.
