OVERSEE MURDER, TORTURE, RAPE AND EXPLOITATION AND IF RICH, BE HONOURED

Edward Colston lapped up the praise, swanned around in circles of privilege like some God, had hats doffed and adults bow, lorded it in his lifetime like some saint, growing fat of soul, distributing bounty in plenty and being adored for it. The fact that he was walking on the backs of slaves, tearing their families apart, damning thousands to suffering and death wasn't mentioned then and by golly it isn't going to be mentioned now, not at least at Colston Girls School in Bristol. There they want to focus on their brilliance, their status and their power, very much as Edward Colston chose to do. But, at their annual love in, they will spare a brief thought for the raped, the tortured, the exploited and the murdered.....but it will be brief, a token gesture to the abolitionists, because that's just what you have to do these days and then the oppressor's  road show can move on.
