ERECT A MEMORIAL IN HONOUR OF FOLAJIMI OLUBUNMI-ADEWOLE - JIMI

My deepest sympathy to the family of this exceptional young man, whose life has been so tragically snatched from them. In time, when the agony of their grief is not so unbearably acute, let a memorial be erected in honour of their fine son. Let his light, love and selfless commitment to a stranger in peril shine brightly forevermore. Let a public place be blessed by the memory of his demonstration of the vital human virtue of compassion for others before self. Jimi is a saint of our time. They are rare and to be cherished.

THE COURTS DAMNABLE INJUSTICE TOWARDS SIMONE PERRY AND THE POSTAL WORKERS

Simone Perry, a young woman who has endured many personal difficulties, made a tragic mistake, leaving her child alone for a matter of minutes which she will spend a lifetime regretting. She has been sentenced to 22 months in prison. Monied, advantaged judges, who come from backgrounds where parents routinely abuse their children, even exposing them to murder, and yet receive no sentence at all, crush the already crushed and punish the already punished. Our judicial system is broken. The powerful and rich from their plenty further oppress and destroy the life of a young woman, struggling for survival.

Meanwhile, over 700 postal workers have had their lives ruined for decades, branded criminals, fined and imprisoned by the courts, only now to be vindicated and have their sentences quashed. Will the judges that convicted them and sentenced them go to jail? Will the barristers and solicitors that grew rich as they set up and pursued the innocent for gain be convicted? Will the powerful executives in the Postal Service face criminal charges? No, meaningless apologies and humbug words about regret, failings, inquiries and reform will try to plaster over the gaping wounds inflicted and navigate across the tsunami of tears wept by the humble that have been blighted again by the mighty.

The courts damnable injustices and catastrophic judicial system shame our country. It is time for a radical new approach.
