COVERING UP MUST BE CRIMINALISED

The Oxfam scandal reveals a significant contributory factor to the sexual abuse of children, young people and others - the concealment of the abuse by individuals and organisations. Mr Van Hauwermeiren should have been exposed in 2004 by Merlin. That he went on to work with Oxfam and then Action Against Hunger is an outrage. The individuals and organisations involved must face severe consequences for their cover up. Concealment must be made a criminal offence.
