Religions shedding blood, slashing their children, drinking blood and choosing to be crucified are all signs of the distorted and abusive practices that religions spawn throughout the world.
It is so commonplace within Christianity, that ordinary people don't realise what they are doing, but each week, though cannibalism is regarded as a grotesque crime, millions of devotees across the world eat what they say is the body of Jesus and drink his blood. We are trapped within customs and practices that religions have embedded into our cultures and consciousness that modern society must challenge and uproot, if we are ever to evolve beyond primitive pursuits that provide the backdrop and licence to so much of the world's bloodshed and carnage.
