Who, in their right mind, could charge callers to a benefit help line, even up to 55p a minute? Who would create a system that deprives the poorest of their benefit for 6 weeks? Who would ensure they begin to manage their finances already in debt? Who would devise a payment structure on the basis that those who find budgeting the hardest, would be expected to budget and on the most meagre incomes. Under inspection, it seems it was planned with guile, to torment, humiliate and further degrade the most vulnerable adults in our society.
