If ever there was one rule for the wealthy lawyer and another for the rest of us, it is here clearly illustrated.
I wonder what Nicholas Bowen's hourly rate is.
I wonder how many times he has defended someone for free or for an average working person's hourly rate.
I wonder how many ordinary people defending themselves in similar circumstances would have been successful.
The law courts, I am afraid, and the legal profession, act like a club for the elite, the advantaged and the rich.
If he had a true concern for "the general public" he would pioneer affordable legal representation.
If you want a wake-up call re the legal system in this country, spend a few days at the Crown or Magistrates Court and you can invariably watch the poorest and most vulnerable members of society being played with and further punished by the wealthy and the strong. It is a grotesque spectacle.
Having watched the BBC 2 documentary on psychopathy last night, and it being suggested that there are psychopathic traits in many leaders, it seemed apparent that there are too in many judges, whose daily fare is to further break the backs of the abused, the poor, the mentally ill and the unstable.
