TEACHER HAD SEX WITH PUPIL IN CLASSROOM
Dean Johnson allegedly bought the pupil underwear and exchanged lewd messages with her before having sex with her. He resigned from the school when the pupil, having continued a relationship with him for a further 5 years, bravely made a complaint, but he then went on to continue teaching in another country. The National College for Teaching and Leadership Misconduct Panel will decide whether to ban him from teaching in this country.
The danger that always presents itself is of such a teacher escaping a complaint or a ban by gaining access to pupils in other countries, just as Dean Johnson chose to do.
The vital question that must be answered is this. If the authorities knew that he had taken this route and was still in contact with children, why, why, oh why did they not act to protect the children.
Such a lack of intervention is inexcusable and reforms need to be made to ensure this cannot happen.
