THE 'NO SEX UNTIL YOU ARE MARRIED' APPROACH IS A DISASTER

 Phin is right to highlight the dangers of coerced sexual experiences. However, the  'no sex until you are married' approach can be a disaster and should not be recommended. It is important that young people explore their sexuality and its place within relationships. A person's understanding of themselves and others, as well as the distinction between recreational sex and intimacy is all part of maturation. The ability to sustain and resource a lifelong committed relationship can depend upon whether such life lessons have been acquired before marriage. The young need to be protected from the moralisers that would stop their natural experimentation.
