THE MIRACLE OF CLEAN WATER - THANKS TO YOU

 Because of you....and your generosity in giving to our Christmas lights, fresh water now flows in the villages of Tiaba Nyass and Dobong in the Gambia. Movingly, wonderfully and inspirationally you can see, in this short video, how the water you have provided, has not only brought health and life to the villagers through access to fresh drinking water, but it also has enabled them to create and irrigate an area to grow food for their own use and for sale at market. Lives are being transformed because of you. Thank you so very much.

 Archbishop Jonathan Blake’s Christmas lights have raised over £50,000, collecting first for Save the Children and over the last three years for Water for Africa. Jonathan and his sons went to the Gambia in 2018 and identified two villages without water that now, because of the lights, have a bore hole fed, solar panel powered pumped series of water tanks that provide clean water to standpipes around the villages. 

He hopes this year to provide water to a third village.

I AM PROUD OF MY WRITING, FOR JESUS’S SAKE, THAT HAS HAD ME FOUND INNOCENT IN HEAVEN, BUT TWICE A CRIMINAL ON THE EARTH. THE FIRST IN 1990 WHEN I WROTE A BIBLICAL TEXT ON THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT IN PEACEFUL PROTEST ABOUT THE BOMBING OF YOUNG IRAQI RECRUITS DURING THE FIRST GULF WAR. THE SECOND, IN 2016 WHEN I WROTE ON MY BLOG, TO ALERT THE PUBLIC ABOUT A PAEDOPHILE, AND WAS SUCCESSFUL IN FORCING THE AUTHORITIES TO STOP HIM HAVING ACCESS TO CHILDREN. THERE WAS ALMOST A THIRD! IN 1997, WHEN I WAS ARRESTED FOR NAILING MY PROPOSALS FOR REFORM OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND ON THE DOOR OF CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL. WORDS ARE POWERFUL MESSAGES THAT CHALLENGE  CORRUPTION, CONFRONT THE WICKED AND CREATE A BETTER WORLD. JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD AND HIS FOLLOWERS ARE CALLED  TO COMMUNICATE HIS WORDS,  IRRESPECTIVE OF THE COST.
