NO FUNERAL FOR ME

Let this 104 year old exemplar, David Goodall, be a trend setter. Not only has he shown the world how to handle death in the most dignified, sensible and respectful manner, but he also has ridden a coach and horses through the harrowing funeral rites that so often prove to be a traumatic ordeal for their loved ones. When I die, harvest any of my organs, use my body for medical research and then arrange for the undertakers to have me cremated, with no funeral service, and no minister, celebrant or  mourners present. Spend the very least on the process, let there not be a flower in sight, play not a piece of music and utter not a word; all is gratuitous, unnecessary and a burden for others. The only thing that matters  is the love cradled for me, in the hearts of my beloveds, and every good memory and positive feeling present in the hearts of those who may remember me. Let life move on. It passes all too swiftly, in the blink of an eye.

I AM PROUD OF MY WRITING, FOR JESUS’S SAKE, THAT HAS HAD ME FOUND INNOCENT IN HEAVEN, BUT TWICE A CRIMINAL ON THE EARTH. THE FIRST IN 1990 WHEN I WROTE A BIBLICAL TEXT ON THE HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT IN PEACEFUL PROTEST ABOUT THE BOMBING OF YOUNG IRAQI RECRUITS DURING THE FIRST GULF WAR. THE SECOND, IN 2016 WHEN I WROTE ON MY BLOG, TO ALERT THE PUBLIC ABOUT A PAEDOPHILE, AND WAS SUCCESSFUL IN FORCING THE AUTHORITIES TO STOP HIM HAVING ACCESS TO CHILDREN. THERE WAS ALMOST A THIRD! IN 1997, WHEN I WAS ARRESTED FOR NAILING MY PROPOSALS FOR REFORM OF THE CHURCH OF ENGLAND ON THE DOOR OF CANTERBURY CATHEDRAL. WORDS ARE POWERFUL MESSAGES THAT CHALLENGE  CORRUPTION, CONFRONT THE WICKED AND CREATE A BETTER WORLD. JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD AND HIS FOLLOWERS ARE CALLED  TO COMMUNICATE HIS WORDS,  IRRESPECTIVE OF THE COST.
