SPIELMAN SETS OUT TO SAVE CHILDREN FROM INDOCTRINATION

Religion should not be allowed to contaminate educational provision. The Church of England and the Roman Catholic Church have long seen the opportunity to "indoctrinate impressionable minds" with their extremist ideologies. Recently the evangelical and fundamentalist churches have joined the 'snatch them while they are young' brigade. Ms Spielman, in supporting Neena Lall, should also ban nuns, monks and clerics, who are teachers, from wearing their habits or clerical collars, teachers and pupils from wearing crosses, nativity plays being performed at Christmas and religious assemblies. Schools should either be free of religious practices or the approach to religion must be equitably applied.
