The Legionaries of Christ, its founder and Father Oscra Turrion were and are so so sorry.
Not that they abused children.
Not that they lied.
Not that they condemned others to lifetimes of observing rules of chastity and contraception, while they fornicated liberally.
But because they were and have been exposed.
Because the light of truth has shone so brightly, their dreadful abuse and dark secrets have been laid bare.
So actually, it's too late to repent, too late to say sorry, too late to fall to their knees - it's just more of the same - self seeking, indulgent, self pitying, self interest.
A true apology would now be silence.
And, what about all those who knew, who covered up the abuse, who said nothing - they too should resign.
