STAY IN YOUR FLATS AND BURN - THE PRIME MINISTER WANTS CONTROL
Some fleeing down the stairs at Grenfell were told to return to their flats by the fire crews.
Never could there have been a more nonsensical instruction from officialdom.
Emergency operators were telling families to stay put for hours while the flames licked around them and smoke seeped into their homes.
Why?
Because, it is claimed, the fire fighters don't want to have the stairwwells blocked by hordes of escaping residents. They wanted more control over the situation, a little like May yesterday.
The concept of the state trying to exert order in the eye of a horror that the wise are escaping is folly.
Just as it was a folly for Theresa May to choose not to meet the residents yesterday, not to shed a tear, not to display her humanity.
These are cold official demonstrations of why human beings must always question what they are told and assess what is true and best.
A Dad managed to rescue his family at 4.30 a.m. from one of the highest floors by taking his own initiative.
