POLICE THUGS AND TASERED KIDS

An 11 year old faces a 50,000 volt weapon pointed at them by a cop.

An 85 year old man lies struggling for breath, tasered.

A partially sighted 65 year old man floored, tasered.

400 children last year tasered at the hands of the police.

A dreadful indictment of those who appear to be emotionally illiterate and psychologically incapable of calming tempers, responding proportionally, and de-escalating confrontational situations.

So often police camera TV programmes sport police officers with a macho edge, wading in to restore order, yet only triggering further crises, inflaming passions and provoking the worst in people.

Give a person a weapon and you will harness their most primitive. Train them to use their intelligence and we might begin to evolve into a more humane society.

All police must wear body cams to ensure accountability.

Expecting an apology alone to suffice for the misuse of a taser, makes a mockery of the violence and the culpability involved in tasering a partially sighted senior citizen.
