MISCARRIAGE

Parents need to empower themselves against the systemic insensitivity around them in the face of a miscarriage.
When my wife miscarried at an early stage of one of her pregnancies, it was very important for us to find the embryo from among the miscarried material.
We were able, through ingenious magnification to produce a photographic image for us to cherish. We were able to grieve and lay our precious lost child to rest.
We were also able to discover through laboratory tests that she was a little girl and so were able to name her.
Meanwhile, those around us thought we were strange to say the least. If we tried to speak about our loss, our sentiments were met with impatience and worse, scorn.
However, for us, the creative manner with which we handled our loss was healing.
