 Clicktivists are still the manipulated by organisations and celebrities. Joe/Jane public has no chance of getting a petition off the ground alone. Your issue has to be sexy or topical enough to gain the attention of the many and then all the cogs click into place and the campaigning juggernaut rolls. Of course those involved in commodifying pressure groups earn well. It is the public that remain mocked, thinking they have achieved great things, when in fact they have merely been herded well by those who have found a good way of earning a living out of the socially concerned and taken advantage of by celebrities wanting to boost their humane credentials.
