THE ANTI DEPRESSANT THREAT

I have been involved with so many people in my ministry going through life's regular hassles, problems and traumas who have visited their GP and come back with a bag full of anti-depressants. They often appear proud, even vindicated, as though the GP's prescription permits them to declare they are in need of medical support, and should be handled with indulgence.
The trickery involved is irritating. GP's bang out the pills to empty their surgeries and by so doing collude with the self deception of the patient. It encourages substance abuse, dependency and a lack of character resolve to withstand the current  life challenge and mature through it.
