PRAYER - THE PAPAL BIG SNOOZE

'Let us Pray' is an invitation to all the hard pressed, shattered and exhausted adults to catch a power nap. The holy bow their heads in reverential obedience but even they find their minds begin to swim. They are not talking to anyone and no one is answering, so it's a journey into the void, that even the hardiest find a challenge, even apparently, the Pope.
Prayer, at its best, and to fulfil its purpose, is meant to provide space for a person or community to identify actions, by which they can put their faith and ideals into practice, to work for a better world. It's a creative, idea generating, resource identifying and goal setting space which should be anything but soporific. However, the lazy shopping list approach of passing the buck prayers, into the ether is just an embarrassing sedative.
